Adela Decantu

Adela Perez DeCantu was called home to her Lord and Savior on June 24, 2016, at the age of 103. She was born on December 16, 1912 in Monterrey, Mexico to Jose Apolinar and Margarita Perez. She married Rafael Cantu in 1933 in Brownsville, Texas. She was a member of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church and a housewife She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and her sons, Americo Cantu, Adolfo Cantu, John Charles Cantu, Rocky Leroy Cantu, Joe Cantu, and daughter, Tammy Perez. She is survived by her children, Jesus Cantu of Beeville, Fred Cantu of San Antonio, Elsie Boren of Portland, Hazel (George) Bernal of Beeville, Erika Gamez of Beeville; Nancy Cantu (Sid) Garcia, of Beeville and Martha Cantu (Bland) Chamberlain, of Corpus Christi; and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. The family would like to thank her caregiver, Lupe Carabajal, who took excellent care of her. Visitation will be held from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Monday, June 27, 2016 at Galloway & Sons Funeral Home Chapel with a rosary recited there that evening at 7 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, June 28, 2016 at St. James Catholic Church with Father Luke Thirunelliparambil officiating. Interment will follow in Beeville Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Glenn Boren, Jody Boren, Joseph Bernal, John Suniga, Aric Gamez, Trey Cantu, Jesus Cantu, Jr. and Americo Cantu. Honorary pallbearers will be Brandon Boenau and Blake Bernal.
