Adelita (Zapata) Yunis, 68, of George West, Texas passed away Monday, April 29, 2024, in a Corpus Christi hospital.
Adelita was born January 8, 1956, in Beeville to Tomas Zapata and Enriqueta (Leal) Zapata. She retired from Wells Fargo after serving numerous years of dedication and hard work as a loan officer. She was a faithful member of St. George Catholic Church. She married Ted Yunis in Arizona on May 5, 1988. She loved her dogs and spending time with her niece, Bree.
She was preceded in death by her father, Tomas Zapata; her husband, Ted Yunis; grandson, Chance Christopher Iverson; a brother-in-law, Arturo Gutierrez; and her two beloved dogs.
Her memory will be forever treasured by her mother, Enriqueta Zapata of George West; four brothers, Joe (Mary) Zapata of George West, Thomas (Debra) Zapata of Beeville, Eddie (Brenda) Zapata of George West and Mario (Karen) Zapata of Dallas; two sisters, Martha Gutierrez of Victoria and Gloria (Johnny) Molina of Beeville; children, Bradley Yunis, Brian Yunis, Carrie Pancost and James Yunis; and numerous grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, May 3, at St. George Catholic Church in George West with a Rosary to be recited at 7 o’clock that evening.
The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, May 4, at St. George Catholic Church with Father Romeo Salinas officiating.
Burial will be private.
Pallbearers will be Thomas Zapata, Eddie Zapata, Joe Zapata, David Leal and Randy Leal.
