Alicia L Villanueva

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Alicia Lopez Villanueva, 91, of Beeville, Texas, announce her passing on February 6, 2024.

Named after her beloved mother, Alicia was born January 12, 1933, in Benavides, Texas to Felix Villanueva Sr. and Alicia (Lopez) Villanueva. She was a faithful member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She grew up understanding the values of hard work and would later become a valued sales associate with JC Penney Department Store. Alicia played an instrumental role in the lives of her siblings whom fondly remember her as being like a mother figure to them. She was always kind in offering her unconditional love, guidance and support.

Alicia was preceded in death by her parents, Alicia and Felix Villanueva Sr.; sisters, Armida V. Treaster and Juanita Villanueva; a brother, Felix (Jr.) Villanueva III; and sister, Cynthia Villanueva Langstaff.

Survivors include five sisters, Artemisa V. Maldonado of Beeville, Lamar (Larry) Heald and Dalia V. (Abraham) Perez, both of Dallas, Lucila V. Villarreal of Houston and Diana V. (Rod) Mathiason of Minnesota; and numerous nieces and nephews. 

A heartfelt thank you to her devoted nephew, Hector Maldonado, who stood by her side and cared for her until the Lord called her home. 

Visitation will be held from 5 to 6 p.m. Monday, February 12, at Galloway & Sons Funeral Home with a Rosary to be recited at 6 o’clock that evening. 

The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, February 13, at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Pete Elizardo officiating. Burial will follow at Beeville Memorial Park.
