Annie Mae (Doubrava) Cox, 85, of Mathis, died Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2017.
Mrs. Cox was born Dec. 3, 1931, in Live Oak County to Annie Helen (Sliva) and Joe F. Doubrava. She married Jay Steerling Cox in Beeville on July 17, 1965, and was a homemaker and a Baptist. She was a former member of the S.P.J.S.T. Lodge and loved to cook, bake and write poetry. She was proud of her Czech heritage.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a brother, Jimmy Doubrava; a sister, Josephine Doubrava; and a step-daughter, Arlene Davis.
Survivors include her children, Linda Ann (John) Henkhaus, Joe S. Cox and Sandra Kay (Alex) Trevino, all of Beeville, and Michael Wayne Cox of Corpus Christi; a step-son, Jerry Lynn (Sharon) Cox of Corpus Christi; 15 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 6, at Galloway & Sons Funeral Home chapel.
A graveside service will be conducted at 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 7, at Evergreen Cemetery in Skidmore.
Pallbearers will be John Henkhaus III, Jason Cox, Brandon Kyle Cox, James Scott Henkhaus, Bobby Blair and Lionel Garza.
Honorary pallbearers will be Brian Matthew Cox and Eluterio "Cat" Gregorio Olveia.
