Anthony Paul Valverde, 61, of George West, Texas went to be with His Lord and Savior Tuesday, July 6, 2021.
Tony, as he was known by family and friends, was born February 9, 1960 in Hobbs, New Mexico to Pablo Valverde and Griselda (Garcia) Valverde. He attended Gervis High School in Gervis, Oregon and was an active member of St. George Catholic Church. He married Amy Guerrero on July 4, 2002 in George West, Texas. As an avid sports fan, Tony enjoyed serving his community for numerous years as a Soccer and Little League baseball and softball coach and his favorite sports teams were the Atlanta Braves, Seattle Seahawks, Portland Trailblazers and Oregon Ducks.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Pablo and Griselda Valverde; two sisters, Belinda Villalobos and Eldemira Valverde; and father-in-law, Alejos Guerrero.
Survivors include his wife, Amy (Guerrero) Valverde of George West; three daughters, Tara Lynn Wallace, Katie Lianne (Jose) Joslin and Leah Marie Valverde; a son, Tony Steven Wallace; three sisters, Deirdre (Jr.) Chapa, Laurie Valverde and Christy (Roy) Gamez; two grandchildren; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Thursday, July 8, from 5 to 7 p.m. at St. George Catholic Church with a Rosary to be recited at 7 o’clock.
The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, July 9, at St. George Catholic Church with Father Romeo Salinas officiating.
Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 14, at the George West Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jose Joslin, Oscar Ramirez, Martin Ramos, Eric Duke, Ray Gamez, Jerry Rodriguez, Nicholas Villalobos Jr. and Roland Ortega.
Honorary pallbearers will be Manuel Chapa III, Javier Chapa, Ryan Lyne, Nicholas Villalobos III, Nicholas Villalobos Sr. and Roel Gamez.
