Joe Hoffman, Sr.

Arthur Joe Hoffman, Sr., 69, of Beeville, Texas, passed away Thursday, May 23, 2024.

Joe was one of four children born to J.L. “Hoppy” and Jean Hoffman on August 27, 1954, in Rockport, Texas. The family moved to Woodsboro where they remained until 1965. They then moved to Beeville. He graduated from A.C. Jones High School in 1972. He played football and was a member of the Key Club. After graduation, Joe attended Southwest Texas State University where he was red-shirted for the Bobcats for a short while. Joe left SWTSU to pursue a career in the oilfield industry from which he eventually retired and moved to Spring, Texas. He enjoyed hunting, gardening and spending time with family. One of his favorite places was Main Street Crossing in Tomball where he and his sister, Joye, loved listening to music. In 2022, Joye and Joe moved to Beeville.

During the past five years, Joe struggled with dementia/Alzheimer's.

He was preceded in death by his parents, J.L. “Hoppy” and Jean Hoffman.

Survivors include his four children, Arthur Joe “A.J.” (Annie) Hoffman Jr., Heather Leigh (Max) Collins, Melanie Rene Hoffman and Jord Ryan (Lauren) Hoffman; as well as six grandchildren, Jake and Holden Hoffman, Phillip Broussard, Max Collins, Grayson Lawrence and Heidi Hoffman; and three sisters, Joye Burris, Donna (David) Bernsen and Karen (Chuck) Knowlton. Joe will also be missed by many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 28, 2024, at Galloway & Sons Funeral Home with the funeral service at 2 o’clock that afternoon. Rev. Greg Traylor will officiate. Interment will immediately follow at Beeville Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be John Dunn, John Breidenbach, Matt Curbo, Thom Pfeil, John “Bubba” Hensley, Gene Herrman, Sam Hogue and Peter Morgan.

A meal will be served following the interment at the Knowlton’s home at 709 Garner St., Beeville, Texas.

The family extends a special thank you to New Century Hospice in Beeville, Personalized Care of Shiner and Live Oak Nursing Center of George West for their wonderful nurses and aides during this time.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Baptist Church School in Beeville.
