Ausencia (Pena) Cantu, 82, of Skidmore, died Tuesday, April 28, 2015. Mrs. Cantu was born Aug. 8, 1932, in San Perlita to Eulilah (Sandoval) and Nieves Pena. She married Eliseo Cantu in Raymondville on Sept. 25, 1955, and was a homemaker and a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Sinton. She was preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include her husband, Eliseo Cantu of Skidmore; three children, Elloy (Nancy) Cantu of St. Paul, Eliseo (Delia Gonzales) Cantu Jr. of Calallen and Elilah (David) Cavazos of Sugar Land; a brother, Beltran (Adelia) Pena of San Perlita; eight grandchildren, Eliza, Elanie and Bailey Cantu, Jeremy Arredondo, Elle and Ashley Cavazos, Christal Gonzales Flores and Stephanie Gonzales; seven great-grandchildren; and numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews and other relatives. Visitation will be held Thursday, April 30, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Galloway & Sons Funeral Home chapel. A rosary will be recited there that evening at 7 o'clock. The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, May 1, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Sinton with Father Joe Templado officiating. Burial will follow in Griffith Ranch Cemetery in Skidmore. Pallbearers will be Matt Petrus, Will Petrus, Ross Partlow, Ernie Garcia, Alfredo "Hito" Rendon Jr. and Roy Pena.
