Avis Mae (Edgley) Dickinson, 91, of Beeville, died Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2011. Mrs. Dickinson was born May 31, 1920, in Sour Lake to Arizona Ann (Barrow) and J. H. Edgley. She married Louis LaMont Dickinson in Victoria on Dec. 26, 1941, and was a homemaker and owner and operator of the Beeville Skating Rink. She was a member of First Christian Church, TOPS for more than 25 years and was well known for her baking. She and her husband were known as Mom and Pop Dickinson from the Beeville Skating Rink. She was preceded in death by her parents, J.H. and Arizona Edgley; her husband, Louis LaMont Dickinson; a son, Walter Hurshall Dickinson; and a daughter, Virginia Orell Dickinson. Survivors include two sons, Louis LaMont (Doris) Dickinson Jr. of Beeville and Thomas "Tommy" (Gloria) Dickinson of Front Royal, Va.; an adoptive daughter, Patti (Henry) Benavidez of Beeville; 16 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 21, at Galloway & Sons Funeral Home. The funeral service will be conducted there Saturday, Oct. 22, at 2 p.m. with Rev. Geraldine Huckman officiating. Burial will follow in Glenwood Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Henry Einspahr, Vic Einspahr, Benjamin Benavidez, Ken Orrell and Dick Segelken.
