Barbara Abernathy

Barbara Ann Abernathy, 81, of Beeville died on Tuesday, March 30, 2010. She was born in Beeville on June 10, 1928, to William Burke Wilson and Fannie Mae Brown. She graduated from Incarnate Word High School and married Robert Briggs Abernathy on Jan. 16, 1949, in Beeville. She was a homemaker and member of St. Philip's Episcopal Church. Mrs. Abernathy was a descendant of the pioneer families of Bee County - Wilson, Burke and Brown. She enjoyed flower arranging and traveling while her husband was in the military. She was a member of the Beta Club, Birthday Club and St. Philip's Sunday School. Mrs. Abernathy was preceded in death by two daughters, Pat and Pam Abernathy. Survivors include one daughter, Sharon Abernathy of Houston. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or St. Philip's Episcopal Church.
