Barbara Lyn Williams

Barbara Lyn (Johnson) Williams, 68, of George West, Texas passed away December 15, 2023, in a Corpus Christi hospital.

Lyn was born in Kingsville on August 16, 1955, to James Marion “Marnie” Johnson, III and Mary Adele (Rogstad) Johnson.  Lyn’s passion for teaching led her to further her education, earning a teaching degree from Corpus Christi State University, now Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. She served as a teacher aide with the Mathis ISD from 1986-1993 and from 1993-2012, she taught in the Mathis and Pettus ISD’s.

Lyn was a faithful member of George West Methodist Church. Her favorite pastime was spending time with her precious grandchildren. She was a woman of many talents and passions. One of her proudest achievements was building her own home. She also enjoyed clearing and burning brush around her property, loved gardening, quilting, and riding bikes.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Marnie and Mary Johnson.

Left behind to cherish fond memories include her children, Malcom (Rada) Williams, David (Paula) Williams, Monica (Cody) Poole and Justin Williams; 10 grandchildren; and three sisters, Kim and Mike Wood, Robin Johnson and Suzanne Amyx.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, December 22, at the George West Methodist Church.
