Betty Randolph Noster died January 25th, 2020 in Corpus Christi, TX. She was born April 24th, 1927 to William McKinley Randolph and Velma Iron Corn Randolph. She was the wife of Melvin Edward Noster, the mother of Randy Noster, Richard Noster, and Sylvia Noster Rupar. She had 8 grandchildren: Rachel Noster, Natalie Noster, Tate Noster, McKinley Noster, Allison Noster, Jordan Rupar, James Rupar, and Dylan Rupar, and great-grandmother to Samantha, Chelsea, Lucas, Charlotte, Heidi, Jake, and Charlie.
Our mother’s life was built on firmly held Christian faith and values and on a lifelong love of learning. A graduate of Beeville A.C Jones High School, Southwest Texas State University, and A&I University, she also did extensive graduate studies in World Literature at the University of Arkansas. During a 32 year teaching career she taught in Harlingen, TX, Alice, TX and Corpus Christi, TX schools.
A Master Gardener Emeritus, Betty spent her later years studying plants and landscaping. She served as a volunteer to help plant the Corpus Christi Museum Zeriscape Garden. The garden at her home was opened several times for public viewing and featured in various periodicals. Her favorite project was the landscape project she initiated, planted, and maintained for many years at the Bokenkamp Children’s Treatment Center, a home for abused and neglected children.
She loved and treasured the friends she met in each stage of her life.
Our mother filled our lives with books and conversation, with the worthwhile and the possible, with love and joy.
She is survived by her son, Randolph Noster and his wife Anna Noster of Austin, her son, Richard and his wife Sandy Noster of Austin, her daughter, Sylvia and her husband Kenneth of Dallas; 8 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
A private memorial service will be held in Beeville, TX later this year.
