Bettye J. Sevier, 88, passed away peacefully in her home in Beeville, Texas on Saturday, August 5, 2023. She was born on March 15, 1935, in Cleburne, Texas to Oscar C. and Josephine (Ellison) Sevier.
Bettye became a nurse in honor of her oldest sister, Mary Frances, who was killed in a car accident shortly after finishing nursing school. Bettye was a compassionate and dedicated medical professional who embarked on her career in the medical field as a Registered Nurse after completing her associate’s degree at the University of Houston. Her professionalism, kindness, and sense of humor earned her the respect of her former co-workers, many of whom she still counted as dear friends.
Bettye and her sister, Sara, moved to Beeville from Houston, Texas, after retirement. Sara soon fell ill, and Bettye nursed her through the remaining years of her life.
Betty was an active member of Beeville Baptist Church as well as the local Republican and Tea Parties. She also loved to spend time with her great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Josephine Sevier; sisters, Mary Frances Sevier, Sara Allard, and Jamia Sevier; and nephew, Charles Allard and his wife Karen.
Survivors include her nephews, Barry (Freddie) and Cary (Ann) Allard; great-nieces and nephews, Rachel Allard, John Allard, Toni Morin, Charles (Angel) Allard, Connor Allard and Elenor Allard; and great-great-nephew and niece Sawyer and Josi Morin.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, August 12th, at Beeville Baptist Church, 710 E. Bowie, Beeville, Texas, with Pastor Tim Stowe officiating.
