Billie Jean Hatley, 80, was born in Corpus Christi, Texas on March 7, 1944, and passed away peacefully on January 16, 2025, in Beeville, Texas. With a remarkable spirit and an enduring sense of happiness, Billie Jean touched the lives of many throughout her journey.
Billie Jean, a dedicated civil servant, devoted an impressive 45 years of her career to serving at Chase Field in Beeville and Ingleside. Her commitment to her work reflected her strong character and work ethic, traits that endeared her to colleagues and community members alike.
Billie Jean was known for her professional dedication and vibrant personality. She found great joy in dancing on the weekends at the American Legion Hall, sewing intricate outfits without patterns, and indulging her culinary talents in both cooking and baking. In her spare time, she often immersed herself in gardening, cultivating a love for nature that further highlighted her nurturing disposition. Her deep affection for animals was evident in her cherished relationships with her pets, Prissy, Pepper, and Holly, who brought her endless joy.
Billie Jean was a devoted member of the First United Methodist Church in Beeville, where her faith and community involvement illustrated her commitment to those around her.
She leaves behind two loving daughters, Mary Elizabeth Stokely and Melissa Elaine (Elsie) Hatley, who carry forward her legacy of love and resilience. Billie Jean also cherished her role as a grandmother to Stuart (Krystal) Sanchez and Joseph Moreno, who will remember her warm heart and nurturing spirit.
Preceded in death by her mother, Lillie Mae Naylor, her brother, James Ellis (Butch) Naylor Jr. ; grandparents, Lillie and Frank Jancha Sr.; and extended family members, Billie Jean's legacy will continue to inspire all those who knew and loved her.
Billie Jean Hatley will be remembered for her kindness, strength, and the heartfelt connections she forged throughout her life. Her memory will forever remain in the hearts of her family, friends, and community.
