O.R. "Buddy" Smith (April 16, 1930 - July 26, 2016) Buddy Smith, 86, of Beeville, died Tuesday, July 26, 2016. Mr. Smith was born April 16, 1930, in Eldorado, Texas to Ida Opheila (Hendricks) and Jesse Frank Smith. He married Doris Marie Moore in Lovington, New Mexico on Jan. 7th, 1950. His early growing up years spread between the towns of Eldorado and Brownwood with the family eventually ending up in San Angelo where he would graduate high school in 1947. Shortly after graduation he began working for Southern Geophyscical Exploration in the hunt for oil and gas. He had many business ventures and opportunities in the oil, gas and mineral industry. Smith Drilling Co was a proud accomplishment and one that he served as president for over 35 years. He was a member of the Church of Christ; and a long time member of the Texas Groundwater Association. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Doris Smith; a son David Ray Smith. Brothers; Jesse V Smith & Joseph H Smith and sister Joyce Smith Dunn. Survivors include his son, Ron (Charlotte) Smith of Beeville; grandchildren Ashleigh (Arlon) Feuerbacher and Lance (Alleasha) Smith; three great - grandchildren, Charleigh Feuerbacher, Tinleigh Feuerbacher and Jett Smith; and a brother Kenneth Smith and sister Barbara Smith. Visitation will be held Thursday, July 28, 2016 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Galloway & Sons Funeral Home. The funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, July 29, 2016 at Galloway & Sons Funeral Home with Jason Dunn officiating. Musical Selections will be led by Jimmy Moore. Burial will follow in Glenwood Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Lance Smith, Arlon Feuerbacher, Jon Dunn, Von Dunn, Bobby Puckett, and Dennis Dunn. Honorary Pallbearers will be Jesse Contreras, Bobby Villegas, David Todd, Jack Elder, Kenneth Smith and Tommy Dunn. Memorial Donations may be made to Camp Bandina/Waldrum Session, 109 Camm Lary Circle, Burnet, TX 78611.
