Carol Dubois

On Saturday, Dec. 19, 2015, five days shy of her 86th birthday, Carol Black DuBois entered into the heavenly Kingdom. There she will be reunited with her precious parents, R. Clyde and Eunice Black and her loving sister, Barbara Black. Carol was a resident of Skidmore for the past 26 years, becoming a much loved icon of this close knit South Texas town, with family roots dating back four generations. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church Skidmore, president of the Historical Skidmore Museum, a member of the Bee County Historical Society, and a patron of the Beeville Art Gallery. A native of Beaumont and a graduate of Baylor University, Carol had been active on the Junior League of Beaumont and the First Methodist Church of Beaumont, while staying involved with the activities of her children. Family and friends were important to Carol and she maintained contact with many of her childhood pals through the decades, while making more along the way. Life took her from Beaumont to Fort Worth, Houston, Anchorage, Alaska, Little River, San Antonio and finally to Skidmore. Along the way, her address book continued to grow. Many mailboxes will be short a Christmas card this year. Left behind to cherish her loving memory are her son, Douglas E. DuBois, Jr. and wife, Tricia of Austin; daughter, Denise Maurer and husband, Chuck of Wimberley; granddaughters, Gail Perry with Steve Gilchrist of Rockwall, and Debbie El Chami and husband, Sami of Dallas; and nieces, Karen Roberson and Patty Bowman. Missing their Granny Carol will be great-grandchildren, Katherine Perry, Nadia El Chami, Claire Poempipatana and husband, Brance, and Dylan El Chami. Plus, great,-great-granddaughter, Aila Poempipatana. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 23, 2015, at First Baptist Church Skidmore, with arrangements by Galloway & Sons Funeral Home of Beeville. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery near Skidmore. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Historical Skidmore Museum or First Baptist Church Skidmore.
