Clara Mattie McWhorter, 91, of Beeville died Thursday, May 27, 2010. Mrs. McWhorter was born on June 20, 1918, in White, Calif., to Earl Edward and Grace Elizabeth Scott. She married Irwin C. McWhorter in Beeville and lived there as a homemaker for her family. She was a member of the First Christian Church (Baptist) and a past member of Tops Club and Weight Watchers. Mrs. McWhorter was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Grace Scott; her husband, Irwin C. McWhorter; a sister; three brothers; and a step-brother. Survivors include two sons, John L. (Sue) Miller of Beeville and Irwin (Audrey) McWhorter Jr. of Colorado; two daughters, Jane Graham of Beeville and Judith (Bob) Prichard of California; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held Monday from 5 to 9 p.m. at Galloway & Sons Funeral chapel. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. The funeral service will be conducted the following morning at 10 o'clock with the Rev. Scott Miller officiating. Musical selections will include "In the Shelter of His Arms" and When I Lay My Borders Down." Burial will follow at Glenwood Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Mark Miller, David Miller, Tripp McWhorter, Erwin Massingale, Mike Knight and Aaron Williams.
