Claude Bruce Sugarek of Beeville passed away October 7, 2017, at the age of 88.
Funeral services will be held at the First Presbyterian Church of Beeville on Thursday, October 12, 2017, at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Steve Shullanberger officiating.
Mr. Sugarek was born on January 28, 1929, on the family farm in the Central Community in Bee County. He attended Central School and graduated from high school in Beeville. He served in the United States Army as a Corporal / Military Police from 1951 - 1953; remaining in the Army Reserve until 1956. He was a welder and a craftsman by trade, whose skills were highly revered. He took great pride in teaching his skills to many an apprentice. After retirement, he owned and operated Sugarek RV Park. Mr. Sugarek was baptized in the First Presbyterian Church of Beeville, joining by Profession of Faith on March 24, 1940, at age 11. He was ordained as a Deacon there, serving on the church's Diaconate. He faithfully served as Sunday School Superintendent for many years and was a choir member. He also attended the Argenta Church of Christ. His lifelong service to God was evident in all aspects of his life and he was loved by many.
Survivors include his wife of 30 years, Dorothy (Zahn) Sugarek; his 4 children, Margaret (John) Dunn, Bill (Sharon) Sugarek, Bob Sugarek, and Ronnie (Debbie) Sugarek; 12 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; 2 nieces and 2 grand-nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Anna (Holik) Sugarek; and his brothers, Charles Leroy Sugarek and Allen Reagan Sugarek.
Interment following services will be held at Glenwood Cemetery, Beeville.
Pallbearers will be John Stevenson, Will Stevenson, Jason Sugarek, Kyle Sugarek, Garry Don Sugarek and Blake Sugarek.
Honorary pallbearers will be Johnny Chapa, Chase Campbell, Jeff Sweeney and Ralph Sutherland.
