He was a 1939 graduate of Vernon High School and then worked for several years before serving in the U.S. Army during World War II. He then attended SMU where he was a member of Delta Chi Fraternity. At SMU, he met the love of his life, Lena Mary Connally. They were married on September 3, 1948, at the First United Methodist Church in Beeville. Clyde was a faithful member of First United Methodist Church, first in Dallas and then in Beeville, and worked on various committees in those churches. Clyde was a devoted husband, dedicated family man, and loyal friend. His life was characterized by persistence, integrity and a strong work ethic. They are deeply appreciative of the love and thoughtfulness extended to Clyde during his 35 years of living in South Texas. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church Building Fund, South Texas Children's Home, Glenwood Cemetery, or a charity of the donor's choice
