Daniel John "D.J." Tierney, 63, of Beeville, died Thursday, Jan. 16, 2014. Mr. Tierney was born Aug. 3, 1950, in Kankakee, Ill., to Wilma (Buchard) and George Joseph Tierney. He married Betty J. Jackson in Corpus Christi on March 30, 1979. He was a Vietnam veteran and had worked for NAS Chase Field as an air traffic controller. He had retired from TDCJ and was working for GEO Karnes County Detention Center. He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Randy Bishop. Survivors include his wife, Betty Tierney of Beeville; two daughters, Kathy (Chanse) Timbs of Normanna and daughter Tasha (Micau) Chambliss of Hutto; a son, J.D. (Kat) Tierney of Beeville; 14 grandchildren; a brother, Thomas Tierney of Oxford, Neb.; mother-in-law, Gloria Brannon of Albuquerque, N.M.; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family and friends. Visitation will be held Sunday, Jan. 19, from 3:30 to 9 p.m. at Galloway & Sons Funeral Home. The funeral service will be conducted there Monday, Jan. 20, at 11 a.m. with Mike Smith officiating. Burial will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, January, 21, 2014 at Coastal Bend Veterans Cemetery in Corpus Christi, TX.
