David Arthur Hurt, 77, a lifelong resident of George West, Texas, died Tuesday, January 22, 2019.
Mr. Hurt was born April 30, 1941, to Walter Harry "Jack" and Priscilla (Traynham) Hurt in Pleasanton, Texas. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy from 1959 to 1962. He married Imogene Adams in George West on February 14, 2010. He was a songwriter, heavy equipment operator and cleared land. As a woodworker, he was well known for building children's furniture for numerous years. He was a Baptist.
He was preceded in death by his father, Walter Hurt; and a stepdaughter, Cathy Barnes.
Survivors include his mother, Priscilla Hurt of George West; wife, Imogene Hurt of George West; daughters, Sheley (Damon) Trumps of Colorado and Priscilla E. Hurt (Laurie) of Three Rivers; two sons, Storm (Rebecca) Hurt of George West and David "Lightning" Hurt of Oklahoma; a stepson, Floyd (Tina) Moore; and grandchildren, Tannah, Wesley, Kirsten, Kristopher, Tanner, Carson, Bobbi Jo, Kade, Hannah, Dustie, John, Michael, Melissa, Adam and Wilson.
Visitation will be held from 12 to 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, 2019, at Galloway & Sons Chapel in George West followed by the funeral service at 2 o'clock.
Burial will follow in the George West Cemetery in George West, Texas.
