David Andrew Kenefake, 92, passed away on August 5, 2017. Mr. Kenefake was born on September 2, 1924, in Robinson, Illinois, to Martin James and Etta Pearl (Stewart) Kenefake. Dave was an Air Force Major and a veteran of WWII. After the war, he met Dixie Donaldson in Perry Oklahoma and they were married there October 6, 1951.
He was a Deacon of the First Christian Church in Pettus, an active member of the Normanna Volunteer Fire Department and retired as a Major in the Air Force Reserve. He worked for many years as plant foreman for Tidewater Oil Company, Getty Oil Company and Texaco. He gave to his community in many ways; as a baseball coach, Boy Scout Cubmaster and Scoutmaster and often volunteered at Pettus ISD. His sons were inspired to continue his servant's heart and grew to support their communities as adults and they strive to pass this legacy to his grandchildren. Dave's family cherishes his integrity, silent strength, and love of God and family. His grandchildren spent many summer vacations with Grandpa where his character helped them grow from kids at play in the sandbox to the adults of strong character they are today.
