Diana (Rivera) Aguilar, 67, a beloved member of her community, passed away peacefully in her home in George West, Texas, surrounded by her loved ones on October 25, 2024.

Diana was born August 19, 1957, in Corpus Christi, to Israel Molina Rivera Sr. and Emma (Ortiz) Rivera. She was a 1975 graduate of Orange Grove High School and pursued a career in education earning a Master’s degree from Texas A&I University-Kingsville. She lived a life filled with love, teaching and meaningful connections, which she nurtured throughout her remarkable 42 years as a teacher at George West Primary School.

Diana was not just a dedicated teacher; she was an inspiration to many students and shared a wealth of knowledge and kindness within her community and church. Her commitment to shaping young minds and her passion for education were evident in everything she did. Diana was a devoted mother, sister, friend and an adoring grandmother, taking immense pride in being her grandchildren’s greatest supporter and their No. 1 fan at sporting events.

An avid gardener, Diana found tranquility among her plants, taking time to nurture both her flowers and her family alike. Her fondness for shopping and attending church services provided her with joy and a connection to her community. In addition to being an active parishioner of St. George Catholic Church, she was actively involved in the Altar Society and Court St. George Catholic Daughters of the Americas.

Diana was preceded in death by her parents, Emma and Israel Rivera Sr.; and her brother, Israel Rivera Jr.

Survivors include her loving daughter, Christy Thomisee and son-in-law Chris; as well as her cherished grandchildren, Ryan Thomisee, Dylan Thomisee, Collin Thomisee and Sophia Thomisee. Her love extended to her sisters, Mary Helen Robinson and Mary Sylvia Gonzales; and her brother, Robert Rivera; along with numerous nieces and nephews who filled her life with delight and laughter.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, October 27, at St. George Catholic Church with a Rosary to be recited at 7 o’clock that evening.

The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Monday, October 28, at St. George Catholic Church in George West with Father Pete Elizardo officiating. Burial will follow in the St. John of the Cross Cemetery in Orange Grove.

Pallbearers will be Ryan Thomisee, Dylan Thomisee, Christopher Aguilar, Josh Robinson, Andrew Gonzales and JJ Gonzales.

Serving as an honorary pallbearer will be Collin Thomisee.
