Dixie Ann Kenefake

Dixie Ann (Donaldson) Kenefake, beloved wife, mothergrandmother and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on March 25, 2024. She was 93 years old and lived in Beeville, Texas.

 

Dixie was born July 10, 1930, in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Leland William Donaldson and Annabel (Ellis) Donaldson. She married the love of her life, David Andrew Kenefake, on October 6, 1951. Together they raised three wonderful sons who meant the world to them. Their family grew over the years to include seven adoring grandchildren and six great-grandchildren that filled their hearts with immense happiness and joy.

 

Dixie led a fulfilling life. As a bookkeeper at Randall Motors in Perry, Oklahoma, she met David when he was making his car payments. She was a dedicated treasurer at the First Christian Church in Pettus for many yearsShe found joy in serving her community. In Normanna, she was an active member of the VFD Ladies Auxiliary, Cub Scout Den Mother and Pettus ISD Band and Athletic Booster Organizations. Dixie also served many years as Postmaster Relief in Normanna and had a passion for various hobbies including quilting, baking, gardening and sewing.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Leland and Annabel Donaldson; and her loving husband of 65 years, David Kenefake, who passed away in 2017; her brother, Willis Fayette Donaldson; and sisters, Helen Mae Williams and Fern Ida Roberts.

 

Survivors include three sons, Dan (Barbara) Kenefake of Canton, Dean (Karen) Kenefake of Sugar Land and Daryl Kenefake of The Woodlands; seven grandchildren, David Keith (Sara) Kenefake, Tyler Christian Kenefake, Garrett Reid (Joy) Kenefake, Christopher Alan (Yrnel) Kenefake, Kurt Andrew Kenefake, Alexandra Nicole (Andrew) Wolf and Dustin Ryan Kenefake; six great-grandchildren, Dean Austin Kenefake, Lillie Anne Kenefake, Rett Wiley Kenefake, Andrew Francisco Kenefake, Dixie Grace Kenefake and Matilyn Danielle Kenefakesister, Nancy Bay; nephew, Craig Bay; and nieces, Amie Simmons, Susan Ellis and Jan Morton.

 

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, April 5, 2024, at Galloway & Sons Funeral Home.


The funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 6, at First Christian Church in Pettus with Rev. Clifford Archer officiating. Interment will follow in the San Domingo Cemetery in Normanna.

 

Pallbearers will be David Keith Kenefake, Christopher Alan Kenefake, Tyler Christian Kenefake, Kurt Andrew Kenefake, Garrett Reid Kenefake, Alexandra Nicole Wolf and Dustin Ryan Kenefake.


Honorary pallbearers will be Dean Austin Kenefake and Nathaniel Archer.


In lieu of flowers, the family would ask honorariums to be donations to the Beeville Vineyard.
