Donald Gene Light

Donald Gene Light, 83, of George West, Texas peacefully passed away on March 27, 2024. He was born on February 22, 1941, in Seth, West Virginia to Denvil and Lottie Workman Light.

Donald worked from a young age in a general store near his home where he developed a lifelong love of RC Cola. He and his wife, Janet Martin Light, moved to Odessa, Texas when they were married in 1960. He worked his way up in the oil fields and later transferred with his company to George West in 1980. 

Donald is preceded in death by his parents, five siblings, and infant son, Donald Light, Jr.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Janet Light, known to many as “Mrs. Light”; daughter, Kimberly (Michael) Womack of Corpus Christi, son, Corey (Rebecca) Light of Frisco; five grandchildren, Jordyn (Allen) Klement, Nathan Womack, Dalton Light, Emma Womack and Devon Light; and two great-grandchildren, Kara Klement and Luke Klement. 

A private graveside service will be held at a later date due to Mrs. Light’s illness.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the South Texas Botanical Gardens in Corpus Christi. The family will honor both parents with a permanent exhibit at the gardens.
