Dorothy (Young) Angell, 96, of Pettus, died Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2017. Mrs. Angell was born Aug. 19, 1920, in Story, Arkansas, to Nora (Qualls) and Donie Young. She married Donnon Angell in 1943 in Guymon, Oklahoma, and was a secretary for South Texas Children’s Home, director of the Pettus Senior Citizens Center and also worked as a cashier at Blacks Grocery. She was a member of New Life Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Donie and Nora Young; her husband, Donnon Angell; sisters, Era Dawson and Fada Krebs; and a brother, Howard Young. Survivors include her children, Betty Stephens of Aransas Pass, Don (Earlene) Angell Jr. of Victoria, Danny (Annie) Angell of Floresville, Lee (Candace) Angell of Kenedy and Deanie (Jesse) Berthold of Beeville; a step-son, Henry Angell of Corpus Christi; 16 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held Thursday, Feb. 2, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Galloway & Sons Funeral Home chapel. The funeral service will be conducted Friday, Feb. 3, at 2 p.m. at New Life Church with Rev. Jesse Berthold and Rev. Homer Hanna officiating. Burial will follow in Beeville Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Tim Stephens, Jack Stephens, Mark Angell, Rocky Angell, Rusty Angell, Kenny Angell and Keith Angell. Honorary pallbearers will be Melissa Reynolds, Melanie Angell, Ashlie Whittemore, Lindsie Sharon, Jeff Angell, Gerry Molina, Nate Nichols, Nash Nichols and Noelle Hoffman.
