Dorothy Bryan

Dorothy “Dot” Nadine Bryan, 96, of Beeville, Texas, was welcomed into the loving arms of her Savior Jesus Christ on Good Friday, March 29, 2024.

Dorothy was born August 19, 1927, on White Earth Indian Reservation in Waubun, Minnesota to Henry Thompson and Aurelia B. Thompson.

After her father, Henry, passed away while she was an infant, her mother and two sisters relocated to Shawnee, OK. Aurelia met and married John J. Cape who raised Lucille and Dorothy as his own. Dorothy met Hollis E. Bryan and they fell in love immediately, marrying on January 1, 1947. Dorothy was a homemaker raising four children: Cindy, Mary, Travis and Vickie. Hollis was a DPS trooper and after he retired, they spent much time traveling all around the U.S. to his 3rd Division Marine Corps reunions and DPS Quarter Century events in Austin.

After Hollis passed away in 2012, Vickie stayed at their homeplace with Dorothy until she moved to 801 Gramman Assisted Living in 2019. She enjoyed all her new friends there. In May 2022, she moved to Live Oak Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Aurelia Thompson Cape; her stepfather, John J. Cape; her sisters, Irene Thompson and Lucille Thompson Langenkamp; her daughter, Mary J. Bryan; her son, Travis A. Bryan; her son-in-law, Bob FX Dougherty; and her beloved husband, Hollis E. Bryan.

Left behind to cherish fond memories include her daughters, Cindy G. Dougherty and Vickie A. Bryan; her son-in-law, Ralph V. Stubenthal; her 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and Christine Owens.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. Monday, April 8, at Galloway & Sons Funeral Home with a Rosary to be recited at 7 o’clock that evening.

The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 9, at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Pete Elizardo officiating. Burial will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery in Skidmore.

Pallbearers will be Bob Benick, Kevin Benick, Aaron Benick, Ryan Benick, Kyle Stubenthal, Hollis Stubenthal and Ralph Stubenthal.

Dorothy’s family extends their sincerest appreciation to 801 Gramman for the 3.5 years of love and care and to the Live Oak Nursing & Rehabilitation for the past two years of love and care.
