In 1974, Dorothy and Dewey moved to Corpus Christi to join her brother-in-law and sister-in-law in the restaurant business at Black Diamond Oyster Bar, which she helped run for 30 years until she retired at age 70.

She is survived by her two daughters, Karen (Don) Glandt of Corpus Christi, Texas and Kimberly (Chuck) Starks of Buda, Texas; her grandson, Blake (Shannon) Lillard of Corpus Christi, Texas; her granddaughters, Lela and Elena Starks of Buda, Texas; two great-granddaughters, Tatum and Arden Lillard of Corpus Christi, Texas; her sister, Alice Franklin of Calallen, Texas; her sister-in-law, Shirley Wesson of Beeville, Texas; her stepson, Butch Merritt of Mathis, Texas; and a large and loving extended family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dewey of 44 years; her parents, Roy and Lela Wesson; and her brother, Charles Wesson.
