Doyle Richard Davis 73 of George West passed away Thursday, February 28, 2013. he was born July 5, 1939 in Mansfield, Oklahoma on Anderson Flat. Besides his family, Doyle had two passions in life, ranching and team roping. He was a champion both inside and outside of the arena and instilled his work ethic into his children and grandchildren. He was a true cowboy and his lifestyle manifested many memories and stories that he loved to share with others. Of all his qualities, his greatest was love. He wife, children and grandchildren know he loved them unconditionally, and they loved him just the same. Doyle Davis is survived by his wife of over 50 years, Francis L. Davis, of George West, daughters Dana Jeter and her husband Mike and Denise Mobbs and her husband Gary, three grandchildren, Conner Jeter, Taylor Mobbs and Timberly Mobbs, two brothers, L.T. Davis Jr and wife Martha, Robert Davis and wife Nancy, sister Mary Etta Sammons and her husband Butch. He is preceded in death by his father Lester T Davis and his Mother Lotina Faye Davis. Funeral Services will be held Sunday March 3rd at 3:00PM at the Live Oak County rodeo arena with pastor Jackie Stevenson officiating. Burial will be a private ceremony at the family ranch. Pallbearers are Scottie Duggar, Chuck Doebbler, Charlie Tindal, Phil Lyne, Jimmy Davis and Allan Lassman. In lieu of flowers, the Doyle Davis Memorial Fund has been set up at Lone Star Bank Gonzales, Texas. This will be used to sponsor the heeling buckle for the annual Live Oak County Team Roping.
