Edward P. Conrad, age 100, of Skidmore, passed away peacefully Monday, Oct. 7, 2019, in Floresville. He was born Nov. 19, 1918 in Pawnee, Oklahoma, to Raymond and Laura (Lake) Conrad.
Edward married Frances LaNelle Linney in San Antonio in 1942. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and sister Lois Conrad Stark.
Left to cherish his memory include a son, Don (Gayla) Conrad of Fort Worth; a daughter, Jean Wilson of Dallas; five grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren as well as a host of other family and friends.
Edward proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force for 26 1/2 years serving in WWII, Korea and Vietnam. Retiring as a Senior Master Sergeant, he received many accommodations, including Airman of the Year twice in his career.
After retiring from the Air Force, Edward and LaNelle moved to Skidmore where he raised Beefmasters and gardened. A lifelong sportsman, Edward loved sharing his expertise in hunting and fishing with young people.
A military graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 25, at Beeville Memorial Park with Deacon Don Maxwell officiating.
Pallbearers will be Chris Maxwell, Collin Maxwell, Clayton Conrad, Scott Conrad, Jack Linney and John Linney.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to: Frank M. Tejeda TSVH in memory of Edward Conrad, 200 Veterans Drive, Floresville, TX 78114.
