Elizabeth Jaso

Elizabeth "Lizzie" Jaso met the loving embrace of the Almighty God on June 3, 2018, when she transitioned from her physical existence to a spiritual life filled with eternal peace among angels in heaven. Born on June 7, 1929, she was the daughter of Gilberto and Delfina Serrata Contreras, as well as the devout and loving wife of 50 years to Filiberto C. Jaso until his death.

Elizabeth leaves behind a legacy of love. She was a beloved, dedicated mother and the core of her family. She radiated unconditional love and fostered a home that epitomized her heart. This home exuded her passion and exceptional talent for sewing and crocheting, and she delighted in gifting her family her beautiful creations, which will be cherished by her loved ones forever. Elizabeth was insistent on kindness to others, and she never knew a stranger. She was a "social butterfly," seizing each opportunity to extend amiability and an earnest presence to those she encountered. She had an unwavering sense of humor and was known as a best friend who faithfully provided refuge in life's joy and sorrows. As a grandmother and great grandmother, she knew no bounds and sought to envelope her little ones with warmth and comfort, always. Elizabeth's timeless teachings - to love God and love others, to be humble and kind - will forever be emulated in the lives she leaves behind.

Just as she was in her personal life, Elizabeth, too, was a faithful servant professionally and thrived on helping others in whatever capacity warranted. She was also ambitious and always looking for the next career opportunity, which led her to some of her most rewarding professional experiences, including working as a secretary for the County Commissioner, Jimmy Martinez, and an assistant at Galloway Funeral Home in Beeville, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Gilberto and Delfina Contreras; her brother, Baldemar Contreras; her spouse, Filiberto C. Jaso; and her son, Ricardo Jaso.

She is survived by her sons, Dr. Rene G. (Alma) Jaso and Ray Jaso, as well as her daughters, Rachael Rocha (Lupe), Rose Ann Ginn (Mark), Rebecca Garza (Gilberto), Regina Cortez and Roberta Alvarez (Jim). She also leaves behind 12 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.

The family would like to thank her physician, Joseph Larakers, M.D., Teralea Jones, PA-C, the providers from Exclusive Home Health and Hospice. Additionally, the family would like to thank Mary Arrendondo, Jeanette Watson, Vicki Robinson, Tara Soliz and Kelsey Crotwell for the kindness and sincere commitment to Elizabeth's care and the comfort measures extended.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, June 6 at Galloway and Sons Funeral Home with a rosary immediately following. Visitation will also be from 8 to 10 a.m. on Thursday, June 7, at the same location with a funeral mass immediately following. Burial will be at the Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Refugio, Texas.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Rene G. Jaso, Mr. Ray Jaso, Mr. Mark Ginn and Mr. Lupe Rocha. Pallbearers are Mr. Ricardo Jaso, Mr. Jim Alvarez, Mr. Gilberto Garza and Mr. Joel Contreras.
