Elizabeth Katzfey

Cleo Elizabeth "Bootsie" (Smith) Katzfey, 68, of George West, died Saturday, June 28, 2014. Mrs. Katzfey was born Aug. 23, 1945, in Nueces County to Roy C. and Joy Pettit Smith. She married Martin Joseph Katzfey Jr. on Aug. 14, 1965, in George West. She worked for more than 30 years as a secretary for the George West ISD and four years at the Live Oak Nursing home. She was a member of the St. George Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. Survivors include a son, Michael Shayne (Lori) Katzfey of George West; sister, Joy Smith Hedrick of Pleasanton; brother, Roy P. (Sharon) Smith of Brazoria; three grandchildren, Victoria Parnell, Joseph Katzfey and Alexandria Katzfey; and one great-grandson. Visitation was held Monday, June 30, from 5 p.m.to 9 p.m. at Galloway and Sons Chapel in George West. A rosary was recited there that evening at 7 o'clock. The funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday, July 3, at 10 a.m at St. George Catholic Church with Reverend George Johnson officiating. Burial will be at St. George Catholic Cemetery.
