Ella Marie Strickland

Ella Marie Strickland, born on August 23, 1928, in Ft. Cobb, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on January 2, 2025, at the age of 96, at 801 Gramman Assisted Living, Beeville. She was a former resident of Sinton, TX.

Marie married William Roy Strickland in Anadarko in 1946. She was a proud 1946 graduate of Anadarko High School and attended Business College in Oklahoma City, OK. Marie dedicated her career to H.E.B. where she retired after numerous years. She was well respected by her colleagues and customers alike. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Sinton and of the Extension Club and Garden Club. She enjoyed traveling with her beloved husband across the U.S. She was at her strongest when taking care of others.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Allen and Rachel Upchurch; her husband, William Roy Strickland; her brother, Billy Allen Upchurch; and her son-in-law, Mickey Alan Mayfield.

Left behind to cherish fond memories of their mother are her two daughters, Carol Strickland of Beeville and Lou Ann Mayfield of Conroe; as well as her grandchildren, Chris (April) Mayfield and Kimberly (Robert) Blue; and great-grandchildren, London, Isabella and Cooper, all of Conroe.

Her family would like to thank 801 Gramman and all the wonderful staff for caring and loving our mother for the past five years. Also, we would like to thank Exclusive Home Health Care and Hospice for their support.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 7, 2025, at Beeville Memorial Park with Chaplain Roger Rosenbaum officiating.
