Elton L. Schumann, 96, of Skidmore died Thursday, Dec. 2, 2010. Mr. Schumann was born Oct. 25, 1914, in Jerrell, to John and Helen Dhoer Schumann. He married Anita Elizabeth Faktor on Jan. 6, 1936, in Skidmore and was a rancher and farmer. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Anita E. Schumann, on July 25, 1998; a brother, Gus Schumann; and two sisters, Erna Keniten and Irene Schuette. Survivors include a daughter, Jeanette E. (Robert) Simnacher of Skidmore; two sons, John (Bebe) Schumann of Three Rivers and Joseph (Donna Thomas) Schumann of Sinton; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation was held from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Galloway & Sons Funeral Home. A rosary was recited there that evening at 7 o'clock. The Funeral Mass was celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Rev. Eugene Ronan officiating. Burial followed at Rose Lawn Memorial Park in Alice. Pallbearers were John Lambert Schumann, Jr., Mark Sugarek, Kenny Rothlisberger, Mitchell Somlik, Robert Simnacher and Chuck McCameron. Honorary pallbearers were Gene Peters and Guarian Simnacher.
