Esteban Cuevas, 87, of George West, died Monday, Oct. 8, 2018. Mr. Cuevas was born Aug. 3, 1931, in Goliad to Jesusa (Moreno) and Manuel Cuevas. He married Olivia Lane in Beeville in 1950. He retired from South Texas Construction and was a member of St. George Catholic Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, baseball and family time.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; a daughter, Sylvia Garcia; three sons, Robert, Steve and Ray Cuevas; five sisters; and three brothers.
Survivors include a sister, Celestina Bridge of Beeville; eight daughters, Adela Lane of Beeville, Ninfa Cuevas, Esmeralda Cuevas and Tina (James) Gallagher, all of George West, Juana Cuevas and Elda Cuevas, both of Round Rock, Mary Lane of Pearland and Michelle C. Garcia of Ingleside; 23 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 3 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 14, at Galloway & Sons Chapel in George West with a Rosary recited there that evening at 7 o'clock.
The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 15, at St. George Catholic Church with Father George Johnson officiating. Interment will follow at the George West Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Lee Lane, Allen Cuevas, Edward Cuevas, Alfred Firova Jr., Eric Cuevas, Joe Cuevas, Robert Cuevas Jr. and Jack Lane.
Honorary pallbearers will be Zachary Cuevas, Madden Garcia, Alfred Firova III and Ronnie Lane.
