Estevan Cortez

Estevan Cortez, 95, of Beeville, died Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2017. Mr. Cortez was born Aug. 6, 1921, in Goliad to Antonia Castillo and Andres Cortez. He married Trinidad “Trina” G. Cortez in Beeville on June 20, 1981, and was retired after working for the City of Beeville for 25 years. He was a Catholic. He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Josefa Aleman Cortez; second wife, Trinidad “Trina” Garcia Cortez; a son, Joe Cortez; granddaughter, Maria Elizabeth Cortez Trevino; five sisters; four brothers; and two stepdaughters, Martha Espinosa and Dora Posada. Survivors include a son, Estevan Cortez Jr.; five step-children, Amelia (Mike) Kelley, Leo Perez, Jose (Linda) Perez, Cynthia (Gary) Ritche and Erasmo (Angie) Aleman; three brothers, Andres Cortez, Guadalupe Cortez and Juan Cortez; five sisters, Manuela Perez, Cecilia Vasquez, Petra Cortez, Bernarda O. Pena and Gregoria Cortez; 11 grandchildren, Juan Cortez, Estevan Cortez III, Mark Cortez, Heather Broom, J.R. Garcia, Hilary Hudson, Jeremy Posada, Eileen Perez, Christian Perez, Bryan Ritche and Tyler Ritche; and 11 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held Monday, Feb. 20, from 3 to 7 p.m. at Galloway & Sons Funeral Home chapel. A rosary will be recited there that evening at 7 o’clock. The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 21, at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Richard Gonzales officiating. Burial will follow in Beeville Memorial Park.
