Ethel (Dial) McConnell

Ethel (Dial) McConnell, beloved mother and grandmother, of Beeville, Texas, passed away October 2, 2023, at Uvalde Memorial Hospital.

Ethel was born July 6, 1939, in Tuleta, Texas to J.W. and Alleen (Fetters) Dial. She married the love of her life, William Glen “Bill” McConnell, on December 15, 1957. Ethel served as the manager of the Beeville branch of the Navy Army Federal Credit Union for numerous years. She moved to Leakey, Texas to be closer to her daughter in 2016. She was a devoted follower of Jesus, and was member of First Baptist Church in Leakey. She enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, her dog, Gretta, and the Dallas Cowboys.

She was preceded in death by her parents, J.W. and Alleen Dial; her beloved husband, Bill McConnell in 1987; sister, Opal Smith; and brother, Waymon Dial.

Survivors include her daughter, Terri Lynn (Mark) Spaniel of Leakey; grandchildren, Karah Guillory, Micah Spaniel, Joah Spaniel, Nathan Spaniel, Nigel Spaniel, Victoria Spaniel, Hailey Spaniel, and Destiny Spaniel; great-grandchildren, Luella Guillory, Elliot Spaniel, and Elleanora Lugo; sister, Margorie (Duck) Rowley; brother, Jack W. Dial; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, October 5, at Beeville Memorial Park with Mark Spaniel officiating.

Pallbearers will be Micah, Joah, Nathan, Nigel, Todd Rowley and Brett Rowley.
