Eugenio Zuniga

Eugenio Zuniga, 94, of George West, died Sunday, Oct. 26, 2014.

Mr. Zuniga was born Sept. 5, 1920, to Vencelo and Julianita Davila Zuniga in Mikeska. He married Guadalupe Casas on Oct. 18, 1952, in George West and worked as a maintenance man.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and sisters and a daughter-in-law, Edelmira Zuniga.

Survivors include his wife, Guadalupe (Casas) Zuniga; nine children, Audelia Cervantes of Buda; Eugenio Zuniga Jr. of Tennessee, Guillermo (Lala) Zuniga of Austin, Ramon Zuniga of Three Rivers and Sylvia (Lorenzo) Garcia, Joe (Catalina) Zuniga, Martin (Norma) Zuniga, Linda (Porfirio) Sanchez and Benny (Erica) Cantu, all of George West; 46 grandchildren; 115 great-grandchildren; and numerous great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held Tuesday, Oct. 28, from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the Galloway & Sons Chapel in George West. A rosary was recited there that evening at 7 o'clock.

The funeral Mass was celebrated today (Wednesday) at 10 a.m. at St. George Catholic Church with Reverend George Johnson officiating. Burial followed at the George West Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Steve Zuniga, Michael Cantu, Ramon Zuniga, Jr., Juanito Cantu, Freddie Cantu and Wayne Saenz.
