Fern Stuart

Fern La Ruth (Henderson) Stuart, 88, of George West, died Wednesday, July 20, 2011. Mrs. Stuart was born June 30, 1923, in Breckenridge to Beulah Mae (Cowen) and Carroll Casper Henderson. She married Douglas Richard Stuart in Houston on Aug. 28, 1953, and was a secretary for the George West ISD and a member of the First Baptist Church of George West. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Lloyd D. Henderson; and a sister, Gertrude Marie Paine. Survivors include her husband, Douglas R. Stuart of George West; two sons, Richard B. Stuart of Bryan and Michael R. (Priscilla) Stuart of Beeville; a grandson, Gordon M. Stuart of Beeville; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held Saturday from 1 to 3 p.m. at Galloway & Sons chapel in George West. A graveside service will be conducted at 4 o'clock following visitation at George West Cemetery with Rev. Bruce Irving officiating. Musical selections will include "When We All Get To Heaven" and "There's a Land That Is Fairer Than Day." Pallbearers will be the First Baptist Church deacons.
