Frances Thompson

Frances Elizabeth (Pirko) Thompson, 86, passed away August 29, 2021, at her home in Refugio, Texas.

Frances was born April 12, 1935 in Gypsy, West Virginia, to Emery Pirko and Mary Louise (Katko) Pirko. She started her career at Michigan Bell, moved to Texas, got married and started her family. She served as secretary at Barnhart-Rooke Chevrolet and Oldsmobile, then furthered her education and became medical records keeper at Refugio County Memorial Hospital and Spohn Hospital in Beeville.

Frances was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Veterans of Foreign Wars Woman’s Auxiliary, the American Legion Women’s Auxiliary and an active member of First United Methodist Church in Beeville.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Emery Pirko and Mary (George) Metropoulos; her husband, Jimmy Roy Thompson; and a grandson, Jacob Cole Thompson.

Survivors include a son, Tracy (Rebecca) Thompson of Refugio; a daughter, Lee Ann Thompson of Beeville; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a brother, John (Colleen) Pirko of Jacksonville, Florida.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, October 29, at Galloway & Sons Funeral Home in Beeville.
