Frieda Hartzendorf

Frieda Rosalie Hartzendorf, age 73, passed away at 9:30 p.m. Saturday, January 24, 2015, in a nursing home in Beeville. She was born June 17, 1941, to Fritz and Marie (Kaltenbrunner) Hartzendorf in the old Thomas Memorial Hospital in Beeville. Frieda worked and lived her entire life in Beeville. She taught for 33 years at FMC Elementary School. She graduated from A.C. Jones High School and then received a Bachelor of Science degree from Texas Lutheran College and her Master of Science from Texas A&I. She also held an Administrator's certificate. Besides her love for teaching, Frieda's greatest interest was serving in various capacities at Faith Lutheran Church. She was on the council numerous times and also acted as Sunday School superintendent and in many other ways. She was a member of the women's Bible study group for many years as well as the Wednesday work group, and served as choir director for 49 years. She was also an active member of the community choir and of various other groups in Beeville. One of the joys of Frieda's life was loving and caring for her cats, most of whom were strays that she took in, and for whom she provided a good life. Frieda is survived by her sister, Marie Marburger; her niece, Shirley Boening and husband, Roger; great-nephews, Matthew and Steven Boening; two great-great-nieces, Alison and Emily; one great-great-nephew, Jacob. She also leaves to remember her a host of friends and former students. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother-in-law, Lee Roy Marburger; and several uncles, aunts and cousins. Visitation will be held from 5-7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 28, at Galloway & Sons Funeral Home Chapel. Her funeral service will be held at Faith Lutheran Church at 10:00 a.m. on January 29. Burial will follow in Glenwood Cemetery. Anyone who desires may give a memorial in Frieda's name to Faith Lutheran Church, 1500 East FM 351, Beeville, TX 78102.
