Genevieve "Ginger" Graves, 88, of Longmont, Colo., died Thursday, April 21, 2011. Mrs. Graves was born on May 11, 1922, in Basin, Wyo., the daughter of Harry and Alice (Barker) Allison. She served in the U.S. Army as a registered nurse during World War II and married Robert Graves in 1947. They moved to Beeville in 1967. She and her husband raised their family in many locations around the world during her husband's Navy career. She returned to work as nurse for the Navy civil service in 1978, and was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Beeville. She loved animals and enjoyed gardening, being outdoors and playing games. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and two brothers. Survivors include her son, Randall (Cathy) Graves of West Chester, Ohio; two daughters, Roberta (Thomas) Nolan of Longmont, Colo. and Linda (Nicholas) Scheuer of La Crosse, Wisc.; a brother, Wendell Allison of Mineola; a sister-in-law, Grace Allison of Elbridge, N.Y.; and three grandchildren, Kristen Nolan, Michael Nolan and Allison Graves. Visitation was held at Galloway & Sons Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 27, from 6 to 8 p.m. The funeral service was conducted at Faith Lutheran Church on Thursday at 10 a.m. Interment was at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery, San Antonio on Friday at 9 am. Memorial contributions may be made to Faith Lutheran Church.
