George Fernandez

George Flores Fernandez, 68, of Three Rivers, Texas, passed away peacefully and surrounded by loved ones on Thursday, May 30, 2019.

George was born on December 12, 1950, in Three Rivers to Victor and Dora (Flores) Fernandez. He married Rosa M. Gonzalez on May 12, 1979 in Swinney Switch, Texas. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and was employed as a truck driver with Mission Petroleum Carriers, Inc. for 40 years. His passion was watching sports especially the Texas Longhorns.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Danny Fernandez.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Rosa Fernandez of Three Rivers; two daughters, Connie Fernandez of Corpus Christi and Lina (JD) Diaz of Corpus Christi; a son, Victor Fernandez of The Woodlands; two grandchildren, Natalie Diaz and Nathan Diaz; and two sisters, Rose (Tom) Kubena of Ellinger, Texas, and Lupita Garcia of Three Rivers.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, May 31, 2019, at Galloway & Sons Funeral Home Chapel in Three Rivers. A Rosary will be recited there that evening at 7 p.m.

The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Saturday, June 1, 2019, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Three Rivers with Father Ryszard Zielinski officiating.

Burial will follow at Three Rivers Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be JD Diaz, Victor Fernandez, Leonard Davila, Sr., Danny Fernandez, Jr., Leonard Davila, Jr. and Ricky Canales.

Honorary pallbearers will be Nathan Diaz, Tom Kubena and Eric Garcia.
