Georgia Garvey

Georgia Mae (Herndon) Garvey, 85, of Beeville, died Thursday, June 26, 2014. Mrs. Garvey was born Jan. 9, 1929, in Lawton, Oklahoma, to James and Bertha (Bond) Herndon. She married Robert Rex Garvey in Bernalillo, New Mexico on Aug. 31, 1956, and was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church. She was involved with Bible study, the food bank and visiting the elderly (all with First Baptist Church). She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, William H. Garvey; a brother; and a sister. Survivors include three children, Martha Garvey of Beeville, Richard Garvey of Huntsville and Erik (Mazaina) Garvey of Silverdale, Washington; a brother; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, July 1, at 1 p.m. at First Baptist Church with Rev. Greg Traylor officiating.
