Geronimo Gonzales Sr., 89, of Beeville, died Sunday, Oct. 19, 2014. Mr. Gonzales was born July 20, 1925, in Live Oak County to Dolores (Trevino) and Francisco Gonzales. He married Consuelo Luna in Karnes City on July 21, 1945, and was a backhoe operator for Calvin Merritt Construction for many years. He was a member of St. James Catholic Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Francisco and Dolores Gonzales; his wife, Consuelo Gonzales; son-in-law, Don Buckalew; brothers, Santos Gonzales, Eligio Gonzales, Encarnacion Gonzales, Alejandro Gonzales, Clare Gonzales and Jose Maria Gonzales. Survivors include his children, Florinda (David) Gonzales, Dominga Buckalew, Mary (Ron) Fritz, Gilbert (Amy) Gonzales, Geronimo Gonzales Jr. and Ray (Debbie) Gonzales, all of Beeville; 17 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation was held Wednesday, Oct. 22, from 2 to 9 p.m. at Galloway & Sons Funeral Home. A rosary was recited there at 7 o'clock tonight. The funeral Mass was celebrated Thursday, Oct. 23, at 1 p.m. at St. James Catholic Church with Rev. Balaswamy Pasala officiating. Burial followed in Beeville Memorial Park. Pallbearers were Abie Gutierrez, Julius Gonzales, Jeremy Fritz, Darrick Buckalew, Lee Gutierrez, Desirae Gonzales, Bryce Gonzales and Paul Gonzales. Honorary pallbearers were Richard Estrada, Jaxon Julius Gonzales, Destinee Gonzales and Tiffany Gonzales.
