Gilberto Perez Jr.

Gilberto DeLuna Perez Jr., 74, of Three Rivers, Texas, passed Wednesday, July 28, 2021, in a Corpus Christi hospital.

Gilly, as he was lovingly known around the community, was born November 8, 1946 in Three Rivers to Gilberto G. Perez Sr. and Juanita (DeLuna) Perez. He served proudly in the U.S. Army and retired from Army Depot after serving numerous years as a package delivery driver. He was a faithful parishioner at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Three Rivers. An avid sports fan, Gilbert loved his Dallas Cowboys. He also enjoyed riding his bike.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Gilberto and Juanita Perez; sisters, Olga D. (Perez) Herrera and Lucy D. Perez; and a brother, Adolf D. Perez.

Survivors include his siblings, Joe D. Perez, Dolores D. (Perez) Huerta, Hilda D. (Perez) Saldivar, Mary Mina D. (Perez) DeLeon, Sandra D. (Perez) Fitter, Alex D. Perez and Johnny D. Perez; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday, August 1, at Galloway & Sons Funeral Home in Three Rivers with a Rosary to be recited at 6 o’clock.

The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, August 2, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Henry Kocionek officiating.

Burial will follow at the Three Rivers Cemetery.
