Gladys Gathright

Gladys Barbara Gathright, 97, of Beeville, died Friday, Oct. 28, 2016. Mrs. Gathright was born Aug. 10, 1919, in Clarksville, Red River County, to Velma Leona (Stracener) and James Macklyn Presley. She married Jewel Lamont Gathright at the First Baptist Church in Alice on July 18, 1945, and was a housewife. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Beeville and an honorary member of Beeville Garden Club. She was preceded in death by her parents, James an Velma Presley; and her husband, J. L. Gathright in 1994. Survivors include her children, Joyce Hughes and Barbara Jean Williams, both of Beeville, and Jerry Wayne Gathright of Ennis; seven grandchildren; and numerous great grandchildren and and nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held Friday, Nov. 4, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Galloway & Sons Funeral Home chapel. The funeral service will be conducted there Saturday, Nov. 5, at 10 a.m. with Rev. Greg Traylor officiating. Burial will follow in Beeville Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Kymberly Wolfe, James Wolfe, Ben Morris, Jim Presley, Steven Presley and Jeremy Gathright.
