Grace Virginia (Brundrett) Butts of Greenville, Texas, peacefully entered the gates of heaven on Saturday, June 18, 2016 at the age of 99. Grace was born in Normanna on February 10, 1917 to Ray and Maud Waldrop Brundrett. She married Roberts Lee (Bob) Butts at the First Baptist Church parsonage on June 13, 1936, in Beeville. Mrs. Butts was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her oldest daughter, Virginia Eichelberger, her sisters and brothers-in-law Chestine and Floyd Harris, Gypsye and Wendell Weaver and Hope and Robert Dudley, her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law George and Irmer Butts, Lenola and Jimmy Ferguson and Annie and Woodrow Cunningham, her nephews Dennis Butts, Woody Cunningham, Ray Ryan and Kenneth Ray Weaver, her niece Marilyn Harthcock and her in-laws L. L. and Nola Butts. She is survived by daughter Roberta Geuea (James) of Greenville, Son Bob, Jr. (Lynn) of Denver, CO., 8 grandchildren; Scott Eichelberger (Janell) of Jacksonville, FL., Kristen Sawyer (Dennis) of Houston, Justin Sanders (Laura) of Krum, Cynthia Boon (partner Kelly Seis) of Ft. Worth, Linda Shipp (Brad) of Fate, Rhonda Sierakowski of San Angelo, Stephen Butts of Berlin, Germany and Andrew Butts of Denver, CO. She is also survived by 10 great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Grace was a wife, mother and homemaker, and enjoyed a lifelong interest in cooking, sewing and all kinds of craft work. The afgans she crocheted are prized possessions by the many family members and friends who were fortunate to receive one. She was the "go to" person for wedding cakes, wedding and reception arrangements , refreshments for VBS (she was Kool-Aid Queen one year) and arts and crafts classes. Most recently, her hobbies included reading books on her Kindle and working on her adult coloring books. Throughout their 77 year marriage, Grace supported Bob in business, at home, at church and the community, and ultimately as Caretaker when Bob's health began to fail him. Grace's strength and faith carried her through the difficult challenges including the illness and death of her oldest daughter, the passing of her husband, and rebuilding her life after Bob's death. In addition to her crafting and cooking abilities, Grace will be remembered for her strength of character, sense of humor, intelligence and generosity. As a life-long dedicated member of the First Baptist Church, Beeville for 75 years, Grace served her God and church in many capacities over those years. Visitation will be held Thursday, June 23 from 6 to 8 pm at Galloway Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 24 at 10 am at First Baptist Church, Beeville. Burial will follow at Beeville Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Grace's name to the South Texas Children's Home.
