Guadalupe "Lupe" Rios, 93, passed away Monday, May 14, 2018, after a lengthy illness. Mrs. Rios was born to Jacinto and Dolores (Perez) Garcia on July 6, 1924, in Kenedy, Texas. The Garcia family later moved to Beeville where Lupe would meet her future husband, Rafael Rios. Lupe and Rafael were married on March 27, 1946, in Beeville, where together, they raised their five children, Rafael, Dolores (Mel) Medina, David (Terry), Rosemary Ochs and Gilbert. They also raised Rafael's three children, Richard, Elida and Minerva. Taking care of her family was the most important thing to Lupe. She loved to cook and clean. Her house always smelled of Pine Sol and whatever she was cooking. She also loved being outside, growing flowers and plants, or just sitting with family. Her children and grandchildren was the light of her life. She was so proud that many were able to go on to higher education, something she was unable to do.
She is survived by her children, 12 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by three sisters and two brothers.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Rafael Rios; her stepchildren; five brothers; and one sister.
Public visitation will be held at Galloway Funeral Home Chapel on Friday May18, from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. A Rosary will be recited there that evening at 7:00 p.m. On Saturday, May 19, a funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Victory Church at 10:00 A.M.
Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Kenneth Medina, Michael Rios, Nick Rios, Brandon Tamez, Mark Lyvers and Keith Lyvers.
