Harold James Torbert, 89, of San Antonio, formerly of Irving, died Saturday, May 26, 2012. Mr. Torbert was born Dec. 17, 1922, in Reserve, La., to Alvin John and Minerva (Falgoust) Torbert. He graduated from Auburn University and served in the U.S. Army during WWII in England. He married Myra Crocker in Birmingham, Ala., on Sept. 26, 1951, and was a book salesman. He enjoyed photography, reading, collecting art and working on his yard. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, A.J. Torbert. Survivors include his wife, Myra Torbert; two daughters, Alice Torbert (Larry) McClintock and Jill Torbert (Vince Johnson); two grandchildren, Aaron and Laura McClintock; and a sister, Lois Torbert Thorne. A graveside service was conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 29, at Glenwood Cemetery with Rev. Linda Sherry officiating.
