Helen (Bates) Rider, 62, of Beeville, died Sunday, Sept. 5, 2010. Mrs. Rider was born on July 29, 1948, in Roswell, N.M. to Charles and Anne Ruth (Holland) Hoshaw. She married Norris Timothy Rider in Fort Worth on July 1, 1967. She was retired from the TDCJ McConnell Unit and a member of First Presbyterian Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Anne Hoshaw; in-laws, Norris and Mildred Rider; and a brother, Sterling Bates. Survivors include her husband of 43 years, Tim Rider of Beeville; three daughters, Theresa (Jeremy) Stanley and Cheryl (Michael) Flores, both of Houston, and Kristy (Ross) Young of Copperas Cove; a brother, Charlie (Joann) Bates of Cleburne; three sisters, Donna (Butch) Allmon of Harker Heights, Dorothy (David) Moore of Venus and Virginia (Vernon) Roundtree of Meridian; two brothers-in-law, Leonard "Beaver" Rider and John (Lynn) Rider, all of Houston; four sisters-in-law, Beverly Durrance of Florida, Glenna (Dorsie) Page of Virginia, Carol Rider of Austin and Sharon Rider of Houston; 11 grandchildren, Jordan, Anthony, Camryn, Addison, Shelbie, Jessie, Edward, Melissa, Nathan, Da'Laynna and Raelynn; one great-grandson; and numerous aunts, uncles and other relatives. Visitation was held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at First Presbyterian Church. The funeral service was conducted there at 3 o'clock that afternoon with Rev. Dr. Peter Muroko.
